Pou Kapūa Creations is committed to creating a diverse yet strong community, continually working to advance the cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing of our people. We provide a place and a space for excellence to flourish and recognise that our goals can only be achieved through whānau who understand and are committed to the kaupapa of our organisation. This means that the whānau must treat each other with respect at all times. The achievement of our vision requires that we acknowledge these ground rules.

At this time, we believe that marae are central in all of our developments and know that with the help of our whānau, hapu and iwi, that we will be able to achieve our goals and create our own future – one that will be prosperous and will lead to enhanced standards of living, health and wellbeing.

We are dedicated to conserving, developing and disseminating knowledge through teaching, learning, research and production of the highest quality taonga and products, supported by high quality management and administration. We acknowledge the values of Tapu and Mana, Whānaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, Rangatiratanga, Tohungatanga, Kotahitanga and Tino Rangatiratanga. We recognise the special relationship that we as tangata whenua have under the Treaty of Waitangi.

We work hard to ensure the financial and economic sustainability of Pou Kapūa Creations, so that we may advance the social, physical, mental and emotional well-being of our whānau, hapu, iwi, including all of those carvers and sculptors from other countries who have come to support and assist us in our endeavours. We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all who have the potential to succeed within our organisation and within our kaupapa.

We have a vision that has lead to the creation of a magnificent taonga, the Pou Kapūa, a significant expression of our identity, a symbol of our culture. This has lead to other sustainable business opportunities including working on other special projects; the production and carving of furniture and furnishings; and the creation of taonga and special artworks. All of our creations and pieces are authenticated with the Pou Kapūa guarantee of authenticity and excellence.
